Who are  Seventeen?

Seventeen is a musical group of exponents of the K-Pop genre made up of 13 members: S. Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, THE8, DK, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino who throughout His successful career has achieved great musical hits such as; Trauma, Thanks, Clpa, Dont wanna cry, Call Call Call, Lilili Yabbay, among others. The kpop band Seventeen debuted in 2015 with the song Adore U”, included in their first mini album 17 Carat and in 2018 a sub unit called BSS was formed, in addition to some members starting their solo careers.

Beginnings of Seventeen

Seventeen is the name of a South Korean musical group that is made up of only men who respond to the names of: S. Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon and dino. 

Seventeen members 

S. Coups, who is the leader of the group, was born on August 8, 1995 in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, South Korea; besides that he is a prominent composer and has specialized in the musical genre of hip hop.
Jeonghan was born on the date of October 4, 1995 in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, South Korea, he works as a secondary vocalist, MC, dancer and visual; him being part of the vocal unit of the group.

Joshua, whose full name is Hong Jisoo Joshua, came into the world on December 30, 1995 in Los Angeles, California, United States, his performance within the musical group consists of being a secondary vocalist, dancer and visual of the vocal unit.

Jun, who is actually called Wen Junhui, was born on June 10, 1996 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China; within the group he fulfills the functions of vocalist, main dancer and visual of the performance unit.
Hoshi, born as Kwon Soonyoung on June 15, 1996 in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, South Korea, is the leader of the performance unit, as well as a vocalist, dancer, in charge of choreography as well as some compositions.

Won woo came into this world on July 17, 1996 in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, he belongs to the group’s hip hop unit, as well as being the main rapper, lyrical and visual composer, as well as vocalist.
Woozi for his part, was born on November 22, 1996 in Suyeong-gu, Busan, South Korea, belongs to the vocal unit, while working as a composer and producer.

DK, who in real life is called Lee Seokmin, was born to the world on February 18, 1997, in Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, it is our knowledge that he has the position of sub-unit leader BooSeokSoon.

Born on April 6, 1997, in Ayang, Gyeonggi, South Korea, Mingyu is a member of the hip hop unit, as well as a main rapper, vocalist, dancer, and visual.

The8, whose real name is Xú Minghao, was born on November 7, 1997 in Anshan, Liaoning, China. He belongs to the performance unit, and is a vocalist, rapper, and dancer.
Seungkwan, born on January 16, 1998 in Busan, South Korea, is the DJ and part of the vocal unit.

Vernon, for his part, was born on February 18, 1998 in New York City, United States, his role within the group consists of being one of the main rappers, as well as helping with some of the compositions, and putting the view of the public his skills as a dancer.

Finally Dino, who actually responds to the name of Lee Chan, came into the world on February 11, 1999 in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, he is the maknae, as well as a vocalist, rapper and dancer, he belongs to the performance unit .

The story of how these young people came to unite in a musical group begins in 2012, back in July, when the Pledis Entertainment company made it public that it intended to create its second male group, to which it would give the name of Seventeen and who would make their official debut in 2013. Initially, Seventeen only had 5 members, and with the passage of time more were added until when they were ready to make their pre-debut they were already a total of 17 members, although four of them would leave the group. What we know about it is that, to mention one, Kim Samuel came out due to his parents’ decision that he was still very young. So shortly before the official debut, Doyyon, Yusang and Youngwoon also came out.

Thus we come to the year 2015, when the boys had their first showcase while their music video considered their debut was revealed, which contained an original song, starting under the name Seventeen .

Trajectory and history of Seventeen

Shortly after, two music videos were released for the songs that became known as “Shining Diamond” and “Adore U”. The release date for their first Seventeen  mini album was held on May 29, while the release date for the music video for “Adore U” was announced on the same day but around midnight.

This album, known under the title of 17 Carat, was in ninth position on the Billboard World Albums chart in just one week after its official debut. Later, for the date of September 10, the Seventeen  boys released their second mini album, which they gave the name Boys Be, together with the music video for the song “Mansae”, all the main songs, in addition to the one already mentioned, were : “OMG”, “Hide” and “Seek”, and which also contained the themes of: “Fronting”, “When I Grow Up”, and “Rock”.

Around these times, the members Woozi, Won Woo, S. Coups, Vernon and Min Gyu got down to work for the composition and production of the songs for the Boys Be album, where they showed a mixture of funk, pop, and hip hop, no doubt more hits for  Seventeen.

Shortly after being released, the Boys Be album reached number 1 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. At the same time that by the end of that year it was placed among the albums that had the most sales.
The following year, in 2016, Seventeen  released their first full-length album known under the title of Love & Letter, which we know sold more than 150,000 copies only in pre-sale.

In addition to this, it ranked first on the Gaon Album Chart and the Oricon Weekly Pop Album Charts in the country of Japan. Thanks to all this, the musical group Seventeen received its first recognition in a music program on May 4, thanks to the song called “Pretty U”.

Later, the album Love & Letter had a reissue that was known as Love & Letter Repackage, whose professional single was the song “Very Nice”. Then the Seventeen  boys started their Seventeen 1st Asia Tour 2016: Shining Diamonds tour, in which they performed in Singapore, Japan, China, and Australia.

A short time later, on December 5 of that year , the Seventeen  boys  released their third mini album called Going Seventeen, which ranked first on the Gaon Album Chart.

During the following year, 2017, Seventeen  released their fourth mini album which they named Al1. In addition to doing the tour known as Diamond Edge, in which they visited cities in Asia and America. It was also in this year when they released their second studio album titled TEEN AGE, which ranked first on the Billboard World Albums Chart.

Already in 2019 Seventeen  presented their sixth mini album known as You made my dawn, the single “Happy Ending” (second Japanese promotional single) and their third studio album called An Ode. Of course we cannot forget their international concert tour Ode to you and later they released their second Japanese single “Fallin Flower”, in addition to the Heng:garae EP “Journey of youth”, the Japanese EP 24H, and finally the second special album called (Semicolon) “Sequence of Youth”.

Continuing with their good run of successes, in June 2021 the Kpop band Seventeen released their EP titled “Your Choice” which included the hit “Ready to love”, also came the great premiere of the song “월 의 춤 (LILILI YABBAY) “the second track released from CHAPTER 0.5 of the 2017 SEVENTEEN PROJECT. Before Al1.
