Who is Sabine?

Pablo Castañeda Amutio, better known as Sabino , was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, being one of the main exponents of Mexican rap or what he calls Sab-Hop .

When he was a child , Sabino was always in love with music and everything that had to do with expressing his feelings based on sound messages , he started practicing and learning to play the drums, he followed the guitar and ended up singing, his idea in life was to be rock singer but when he couldn’t make it he had to start working on other things he didn’t like like recording and taking photos at weddings.

“Since I was involved in music, my dad is a music lover who taught me from Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, and I always liked the drums, and my dad took me to classes, although he never bought me one, I don’t know if he didn’t he could or he didn’t want to because of the noise, that’s why I decided to grab a guitar that was at my grandmother’s house. As a child I also sang, so much so that when I was little I was enrolled in singing classes. In the end I left the classes out of shame, because they put me in the principal with the girl I liked. The thing about writing has always been given to me, years ago I began to make different structures at the time of writing, they sounded more like rap than normal songs” , Sabino commented in a recent interview about his beginnings in music.

Sabino began his artistic career in music in 2010, from the beginning he really wanted to become a singer of alternative rock music, however, various events in his life made him gradually begin to have a taste for rhymes. and the beat, characteristic of Hip Hop.

“I first discovered hip-hop in Spanish with music in Spain and Chile. SBDK, Dothe King, several of what was happening there in Spain, and later I got to know the old school in the United States and everything that comes from. So first what attracted me to the genre was this practicality that with samples and some sounds you can make music, but later I got to know the history and I really like it” , says Sabino about how he discovered Rap and Hip Hop music.

His good, honest and sometimes sarcastic rhymes have been what has led Sabino to forge a name within the musical entertainment industry. The lyrics, although they may seem quite simple, have an unparalleled quality and, as if that were not enough, there is something that makes many people feel identified with the music he makes and the life stories he shares with his fans in each of the songs he releases based on reggae, jazz and soul.

Sabino’s musical career

Sabino released an EP called Poker in 2012, which he released in 2012 , and with which it could be said that he began his journey within music. This album included only 4 musical themes but they were enough to be his letter of introduction to the people and his faithful audience.

It was in 2016 when he released his single “Me puse Pedo” on the market when his singing career took off and he began his rise within the independent industry in Mexico, collaborating with artists like Lng/SHT and Fer Casillas on songs like “Los Raros de la Class” and “Nine Fifteen” respectively; themes that became favorites of their audience and hymns that accompany #SabHop in its consolidation as a genre.

On December 4, 2017, he released his album “I wanted to rock” , an album with 14 songs in which, as his name indicates, he makes it clear that at first he intended to be an alternative rock singer but life was. heading in a totally opposite direction and ended up doing rap. His irreverence led him a year later to release the album “Genaro Presenta: Este NO Es El Disco” which included 7 songs, all in collaboration with other great exponents of the genre such as Dan Solo, Ben Daval, Ferraz among others.

In 2019 he released the first part of a double album, called Yin , from his Yin Yang project; an album divided into two parts and whose first half includes three unpublished songs : “La Magia”, “Película” and “Tú”; as well as the song that gives the album its name and is the new official single, “Yin Yang” . Produced by Dan Solo, Ferraz, Ily Wonder & Maki Váez, in this new single and video, Sabino explores the world of Urbano – Reaggetón, under the argument that all genres fit in #SabHop. The official video for Yin Yang includes the participation of Melissa Robles de Matisse, Leonel Garcia, Dhasia Wezkaand more. The video was directed by Floria González and narrates the battle between the Yin and Yang clans for the love and attention of a beautiful girl.

In the same year Sabino together with Natalia Lafourcade released the song “Lo Que Construimos” , the song is a sample that included a part of the chorus of the song “Lo Que Construimos” by Natalia Lafourcade , accompanied by some verses written and rapped by Sabino . The song achieved 2 million views in 2 months, quite an achievement in the singer-songwriter’s career.

At the beginning of the year 2020 , Sabino started a new song full of pure good vibes titled “La Vida es una Movie” by Los Rivera Destino . The clip is a direct reference and parody to science fiction and Hollywood classics that we all have so present in our heads. The song was co-authored by Sabino and the Puerto Ricans and talks about taking advantage of the time to have fun, enjoy with friends, with your partner and not waste a second on trivialities. Then together with the singer Charles Ans he premiered “Until death do us part”.

In February 2020 , Sabino appeared on the stage of the Pepsi Center WTC in Mexico City with his show ” YIN “, the first part of his new album ” YING YANG “. Sabino commented that YIN, the first part of his album, is a personal anecdote, in which he narrates through songs the different stages of life that go from love, going through relaxing with friends to reaching heartbreak. The visuals in his presentation were based on the set of ideas that arise according to the rapper’s tastes and memories, which, he and his production team, created the transformation of a unique stage. Sabino and his band “ Los Rebeldes del Pop ” delighted everyone present with their Sab-Hop.
