Who is Maneskin?

Måneskin is an alternative pop rock band made up of Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi and Ethan Torchio, originally from Rome Italy who have achieved great success with songs like; I wanna be your slave, Beggin, Coraline, Zitti Buoni, Torna a casa, Chosen, among others. The Italian group Måneskin debuted in 2016 and in 2021 they were chosen as representatives of Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 where they were winners.

Måneskin is the name of a musical group of Italian origin exponents of the alternative rock genre . We are aware that its members have known each other since they were in high school. However, it was not until 2015 when Victoria De Angelis (who works as bassist) and Thomas Raggi (who is the group’s guitarist) made the decision to found the band in August of that year. In the same way we have to mention that at first they had a female vocalist, who was soon replaced by Damiano David. Later, drummer Ethan Torchio joined the group, who reached them through an advertisement that was published on Facebook.

This is how we can say that the Måneskin group is made up of the following personalities: Damiano David (born in Rome, on the date of January 8, 1999), Victoria De Angelis (born in Rome, on April 28, 2000) , Thomas Raggi (born in Rome, on January 18, 2001) and Ethan Torchio (born in Rome, on the date of October 8, 2000).

Regarding the name of the group, we must point out that  Måneskin is a word that comes from the Danish language and means “moonlight”. Similarly, it should be noted that bassist Victoria’s mother tongue is Danish. It is considered that the beginnings of her artistic career occurred back in 2017, when they were participants in the 11th edition of the talent show known as X Factor Italia.

In this competition they managed to overcome the first phases with outstanding success, so they went to the next stage with Manuel Agnelli as godfather. While they were competing, they released their first EP that was known under the title of Chosen, whose production was carried out by Lucio Fabbri. The success of this album reached such a point that it earned a double platinum certification from FIMI.

Måneskin’s career and history

The following year, in 2018, more particularly on the date of January 7,  Måneskin received an invitation to participate in the Italian television program called Che tempo che fa, this being his first appearance on Rai. A short time later they were guests on the television programs known as E poi c’é Cattelan and Ossigeno, with Manuel Agnelli as the presenter of the latter show.

Then, on October 25, they were invited to the first live of X Factor 12.
