Who are  Secret Number?

Secret Number is a musical group of girls exponents of the K-Pop genre who have achieved great musical successes such as Who Dis? Got That Boom, Holiday, Privacy, among others. Secret Number officially debuted on May 19, 2020 and since then they have become one of the best bands in the k-pop genre.

The beginning of the Secret Number

Secret Number is a musical group of the K-pop genre made up exclusively of women, who respond to the names of: Léa, Dita, Jinny, Soodman, and Denise.

The name of the group “Secret Number” has a whole meaning, and that is that according to what some of its members have explained, this name refers to the fact that: “everyone has a secret number, password, code or PIN, which is usually be a birthday, anniversary or other special number. We want to keep that kind of special meaning for the public.

Our logo is designed as a password box with five stars, which represent all five of us.”
In addition, they have also confessed that their source of inspiration was the usual group of the k-pop genre called Apink, since they greatly admire that they are still together after a long nine-year career, and just like the members of Apink, the girls of Secret Number aspire to be together for a long time.

We must also mention that they are proud to be a multicultural group, and that is that we have two girls who are originally from the United States, one is from Japan, another from South Korea, and another from Indonesia. This is how, very sure of themselves and showing a great relationship of friendship between them, they have stated that: “we are the only k-pop group that presents such a diverse variety of countries.”

If we talk a little more about the members of Secret Number , we have that their leader, Léa, whose real name is Ogawa Mizuki, came into the world on August 12, 1995 in Tokyo, Japan. For her part, Dita, one of the group’s rappers, was born on December 25, 1996 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and her full name is Dita Karang; For her, belonging to the musical group Secret Number has been the fulfillment of the dreams she had since she was a child and she has proudly expressed the following words in an interview: “I am sorry to say this myself, but I heard from my acquaintances that it has become (music group) into something big in Indonesia.”

While Jinny, the other rapper, actually goes by the name of Park Jin Hee, and came into the world on the date of January 20, 1998 in the city of Los Angeles, California, finally we cannot forget Soodan, who actually Her name is Lee Soo Dam, born on November 9, 1999 in Seoul, South Korea, and Denise, born as Denise Kim on January 11, 2001 in Houston, Texas.

It is considered that the beginnings of the artistic career of this musical group Secret Number  occurred when on the date of December 17, 2019, the company Vine Entertainment made the announcement that a new band made up of all women would soon debut, and it was revealed Léa as the first member of the group. By then, a little more was revealed about the particular trajectory of each of the girls.

This is how we know that Léa had already ventured into the world of musical entertainment with another group that became known as Skarf, where she adopted the stage name of Hana. Then news of Dita, who had just finished her studies in New York City, came to light. While for November 15 the names of Jinny and Denise were revealed, and the group was finally completed with Soodam.

The girls of Secret Number  were scheduled to make their debut on March 26 of last year 2020, however, due to the health emergency due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event had to be postponed, making this news public knowledge by part of the company Vise Entertainment on March 12.

As of April 29, the name of the musical group as Secret Number was revealed, and the official social media accounts of the girls in the artistic field as a group were also revealed. On May 6, in an article on Naver, South Korea’s main internet portal, it was announced that the official date for Secret Number ‘s debut would be May 19 with the song titled Who Dis?

Regarding this topic, we have to point out that the Secret Number  girls said publicly in an interview, “It’s an honor to work with them even though this is only our debut. Because we can communicate in English, there were no problems with the production. As we worked together, we realized we had things in common and became friends. Yesterday, we sent them a message saying that we were nervous about our debut showcase and they sent us a long message of support. We were surprised and grateful.”

The song “Who Dis?” by  Secret Number is musically defined as an urban hip hop dance that was produced by the Americans Michel Lindgren Schulz and Melanie Fontana, who are famous as producers of artists with a long history in the world of musical entertainment, such as: Justin Bieber , The Chainsmokers, and BTS; as well as they have also distinguished themselves by their collaboration with the producer of Korean origin called Shark.

A little later, on October 22, it was announced that Secret Number  would return to the stage with a new musical album, that is how, on the date of November 4, 2020, they released Got That Boom, which constitutes their second album.

It was also the year 2020 when they were present at the awards known as Asia Artist Awards with the category of “best new female artist”, turning out to be winners. We cannot forget that their names were nominated at the Brand of the Year Awards with the category of “best female rookie artist award”; at the Mnet Asian Awards with the categories of: “best new female artist”, “artist of the year”, and “global icon of the year”, undoubtedly one of the first great successes of  Secret Number.

In the same way , Secret Number were nominated at The Fact Music Awards with the categories of “fan n star choice award – artist” and “TMA popularity award” . While in this same year they were winners at the Top Ten Asian Awards with the category of “best new female artist”.

Later, in the current year 2021, Secret Number were nominated at the Korea First Brand Awards with the category of “best new female artist”; and at the Seoul Music Awards with the categories of: “rookie of the year”, “k-wave popularity award”, “popularity award”, “fan PD artist award”, and “whostfandom award”. While it is our knowledge that they have won the Top Ten Asian Awards with the categories of “top 10 artist” (from the Indonesian region), and “top 10 artist” (from the United Kingdom region).

We also have to talk about the great success that Secret Number  has had so far, the videos corresponding to the songs of “Who Dis?” and “Got That Boom”, which were directed by the prestigious Hong Won-ki.
