Who is Hadrian?

Adrián Gabriel Salguero Mora , better known as Hadrian, is an exponent of the rap and freestyle genre who in 2008 became the champion of the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos . Hadrian was born on August 12, 1983 in Mexico City and is currently considered one of the most important Mexican rappers of the moment.

Beginnings in Hadrian’s life

Adrián Gabriel Salguero Mora, better known as Hadrian or MCHadrian, is a singer, songwriter and exponent of rap, trap and hip-hop . He was born in Mexico City and from a very young age he had a taste for music.

Hadrian  studied International Business to please his parents, as they constantly told him that he should have a career in case music doesn’t pay off for him.

From a young age , Hadrian  expressed his taste for movies and books, without imagining that it would be precisely reading, the key to fulfilling his goal. He read whenever he could, from his house to the university and from the university to work, where he served as a courier to pay for his studies.

He knew rap since he played basketball, but it wasn’t until 2007 when  Hadrian began his creative process and began to write, urban music and rap becoming his passion, his dream.

Hadrian’s career and history

At the age of 24, Hadrian  ventured into music and was crowned national champion in 2008 and international champion of the Red Bull “Batalla de los Gallos 2008 “, an annual freestyle competition, in which all Spanish-speaking countries participate. leaving Pope, Código, Basek and Mena on the way.

Considered the first Mexican to win the title of the Battle of the Roosters, he is also seen as one of the pioneers of the trap genre, at least in our country. 

In 2011, in what was called “The Battle of the Century” , Hadrian and the Cuban “El B” faced each other in a freestyle fight, with Hadrian being the winner. In the exhibition tournament that took place in Mexico City, Hadrian’s international belt was played against the Cuban who had been two-time Red Bull national champion in 2007 and 2008; however, the verbal duel of songs that took place would cause a confrontation between the two. However, in the “Batalla de los Gallos 2013” , when the two served as judges, Hadrian published a photo with “El B” on his Facebook account, making it clear that the old quarrels were in the past . . In that same year, the rapper presented his record material on“Bueno, el Malo y el Feo” , turning his career around as it opened the doors for him on television and he completed a tour of South America, Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina.

As judge Hadrian  has participated in three international editions of Red Bull, in Battle of Masters in Double AA.

Another important duel was that of  Hadrian Vs Eptos Uno, in which the chilango belt was put into play again. The dispute is remembered for the high level of Mexican rap, between two pillars not only of freely, but of hip-hop in general.

In 2014,  Hadrian presented the mixtpe album “Crónicas de Invierno” , which obtained more than 36,000 downloads in just 2 months and on You Tube de Liric videos premiering on January 1 for free download, obtaining more than 36,000 downloads in just 2 months and achieved more than 1,000,000 views on Youtube for Liric videos.

On December 19, 2015, in Mexico City, Hadrian again faced another great battle, but this time with  Aczino . It was one of the most acclaimed disputes by the Mexican public, because Hadrian, recognized for being the best freestyler of the old school, faced the two-time champion (2014-2015) of Red Bull Mexico and considered one of the best in The new school. Although nothing material was bet on this meeting, the recognition of “best Mexican rapper” would be given . At the end of the day, opinions remained divided and all that was left was a historic confrontation not only for Mexican rap, but for international hip hop.

In 2016 Hadrian  presented his production “ White ” and in 2017 “ Black Album ”, it was precisely in this year when he declared his taste for music in general, both hip hop and other types of rhythms that allow him to experiment, “without any prejudice or fear. To the portal La Billboard he declared “Hadrian is a person capable of making any type of music capable, he DOES NOT leave rap, I did NOT betray rap. He’s just adapting and experimenting with these rhythms with rap. Ultimately, R&B goes hand in hand with hip-hop.”

At another time, when asked about the lyrics of “Black Album” , in which he seemed to be responding to his critics,  Hadrian claimed to be in constant musical evolution and many people don’t like that.

“Hadrian’s essence is to evolve musically and a lot of people didn’t like that. Others say that change is necessary. I have always had an ambition to innovate, to experiment with new rhythms, and that bothered many of them. All this generated many haters for me, there was a stage in which they rained on me. Now they understood why he did things like that, music can’t stop evolving, and whoever stayed, stayed.”

At the beginning of 2017, when the freestyle world was booming, Salguero Hadrian  participated in the God Leve, where he faced the Chilean Kaiser, losing the undefeated and was booed by the attendees. In 2018 he presents “Ex”. In November of that year, a new edition of Línea 16XL was held, the Sin Límites edition, facing Santa Rm, whose rivalry began in 2012.

During the meeting held at the Frontón México, the friction between the two characters was not lacking in the first two rounds; However, in the third duel Santa RM leveled up his improvisation and the public sided with him, unleashing a series of boos against the rapper from the capital, whom he reproached for dedicating himself to interpreting tribal songs and a kind of song from trap, when for a long time he criticized those who made that kind of music and ended up doing the same, undermining  Hadrian’s credibility.

The confrontation escalated from everything, not only with insults and provocations from Hadrian to the man from Regiomon, but with a series of shoves and attacks, which caused the public to start shouting insults at him and receive boos for not respecting the adversary. In 2019 he released his album “To all” and in 2020 he presented ” Quarantine . Hadrian has said that his music is an autobiography, which is why people identify with him.

In 2021, on his Twitter account, he shared his song ” Campeón “, of which he posted “it is one of the most important stories that I have had to tell,”  Hadrian commented at the time.

Despite the fact that there comes a time when he cannot rap, Hadrian has said that he does not want to leave music and will seek to contribute from another perspective. “Good music is timeless, it lasts for a lifetime. A song can be good and it can be mature. I’m glad… it’s a motivation that there are people of legal age who listen to my music, no matter the age range. The part that motivates me because it’s what I want to convey: that a 10-year-old boy can identify himself, but a 40- or 50-year-old man just the same. I think this is the best payment, that your music moves those fibers” , said rapper Hadrian in an interview , whose greatest logo is having won the Red Bull Battle of Gallos being part of the few rappers who have had the privilege of win asAczino , WOS , among others.

In addition , Hadrian  has stated that if one day he has children, he would like his songs to have a more spiritual value, because he would not like them to be filled with “negative vibes”, which is why he has changed the way he writes the lyrics of his songs.
