José Rafael Amaya Núñez better known only as Rafael Amaya is a Mexican actor of series and novels  famous for his character “Aurelio Casillas” in the series El Señor de los Cielos. Rafael Amaya was born on February 28, 1977 in Hermosillo, Sonora and is currently considered one of the best actors in Mexico, although he has been involved in many scandals due to his addiction to alcohol that he himself confessed.

The actor and model José Rafael Amaya Núñez or better known as simply Rafael Amaya in the world of entertainment, famous for his emblematic character of the drug trafficker named Aurelio Casillas in the series El Señor de los Cielos; was born on February 28, 1977 in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. What we know about his childhood is that when he was only 5 years old, he moved with his parents to live in the city of Tecate, in Baja California. Being very young he stood out for his sporting ability in athletics. From his adolescence he became interested in the arts by taking theater and music classes, which would mark his life forever.

Rafael Amaya  entered university in San Diego, California, but dropped out before graduating and together with the group known as the Palapa Band decided to try his luck in Mexico City. However, this experience did not turn out as expected and the group dissolved. However, Rafael Amaya refused to treat his drug addiction , so his friend Roberto Tapia had to trick him into going to a rehabilitation center in Sinaloa, called Baja del Sol and owned by the former boxer. In mid-2021, the actor Rafael Amaya again spoke out about the scandal of his addiction and commented; “My life is adjusting, because it was very disordered and my conscience at that time was not the correct one I have right now and I forgive myself because it is not the conscience I have right now, I am living ‘just for today’ because I am a recovering alcoholic ”, he assured when questioned about all the gossip in relation to his addictions.
