Irma Angélica Hernández Ochoa, artistically known as Mimí , is a singer, songwriter, actress, and television presenter. She is the daughter of Lucha Moreno and José Juan, ranchera music performers, she was born on December 29, 1962, in Mexico City. Her siblings, José Juan and Ileana, the latter died of lung cancer in 1999.

In 1983, Mimi , at a school festival, is discovered by producer Guillermo Bouchote, who invites her to be part of a television program, but rejects the proposal, because she and her siblings suffered loneliness due to the absence of their parents, who were constantly on tour. She did not want to know anything about the artistic medium.

“When they call me, I tell them: ‘Thank you very much but I’m not interested, I’m in high school, I have other activities and I don’t want to be an artist,’ Mimi  revealed to an entertainment program. Her dream was to be a doctor or criminal lawyer.

It was not until the mid-80’s that Mimi accepted to be part of the Flans group , at the invitation of her friend Isabel Lascuráin, without imagining that it would be the spearhead of her artistic career, since together with her colleagues Ilse and Ivonne they would mark a whole era in pop music, not only for their songs, but for setting trends in fashion.

Mimi , Ilse and Ivonne recorded their first album simply titled “ Flans ” in England and on October 6, 1985 they made their debut on the “Siempre en Domingo” program with their first single “Bazar”. With their second single “No controles” they were located in the first places of popularity, record sales, concerts and presentations throughout the Mexican Republic, Central and South America. Mimi stood out as an interpreter with the song “Billy” and “En medio de los dos”, a song for which she is the composer.

In March 1986 Mimí together with Flans  released their second album “20 miles” and their third album “Luz y Sombra” would come out in 1987, which included the song “Without you”, written by Mimí. While in 1988, on the album “Alma Gemela”, she composed Govanni Amore, a romantic ballad and performed “La única estrella”, authored by Miguel Bosé.

In 1989, the group released the album “Cuéntamelo Dum Dum” , whose objective was children and in which Mimi interprets the song Tajín el Huracán.

After five years of success and in the midst of rumors that Ilse, Ivonne and Mimi do not get along, on December 27, 1990, Flans announces his disintegration in the program that saw them born “Siempre en Domingo”, under the argument that Yvonne had wedding plans.

“I think there are many plans for both Ilse, Ivonne and me in the musical field because we bring this, not just five years, I think it’s something we bring inside, it’s something we are. So, I think there are little surprises, in the world of music, for us, ” Mimi told  the host Raúl Velasco.

On the album “ Adiós ”, Mimí composed and performed “Y no estás”, as well as singing the songs “Peligro” and “Horas” . Once each one decides to take different paths, Mimí decides to venture into business by launching her clothing line “By Mimí” and in 1990 she debuted as an actress, playing “Perla” in the soap opera “Amor de Nadie”, starring Lucia Mendez. In 1991 she began her career as a soloist with the album simply ” Mimí “, under the Emi Music label. With the single “Finge que no” , a cover of the group “The Alan Parsons Project”, she managed to position herself on the popularity charts in Mexico, Central America, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile.

In 1992, Mimí  participated as ” Rosita ” in the telenovela “Baila Conmigo”, whose leading roles fell to Bibi Gaytán and Eduardo Capetillo. Her mother Lucha Moreno also acted in this production.

After the great success achieved as a soloist, in 1993, under the production and direction of Daniel Freiberg and Adrián Poss, Mimí  released her second album “En un momento de Soledad” , from which the first single of the same name emerged, the most successful and remembered by being placed in the first places of popularity in Mexico and South America. The subject is also recorded in English to enter the US market, without obtaining the expected results.

Alongside Paco Stanley, Mimi  made her debut in the play “Don Juan Tenorio” in 1997 and ventured as a host on the game show “Rola la rola” on Televisión Azteca.

Nine years after their separation, Flans met again at the “Acapulco Milenio Festival” in 1999; They present their seventh production “Hadas”, from which the first single of the same name emerges, which places them in the first places of popularity. In this production, Mimí sang a cover of the Spanish Luz Casal “Rufino”, which included the participation of ex-Timbiriche Diego Shoening and together with his partner Ivonne, participated as co-author of the song “Gracias”, a Spanish version of the song “Thank You” by English singer Dido. She also performed “When you are not with me”, a song that she could not sing or promote because the lyrics talk about losing a loved one, just when her sister Ileana died of cancer.
