Beginnings in the life of María Sorté

María Harfuch Hidalgo, better known by the stage name of María Sorté , was born on May 11, 1955 in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico. Her parents are Celia Hidalgo and José Harfuch Stefano, of whom we have to mention that she is of Arab origin.

Before dedicating her life to acting, María Sorté moved to Mexico City to study Medicine, however, when she took the admission exam, she also fought to enter the Andrés Soler Acting Academy, where finally he would stay following the desires of his vocation.

It is considered that her debut as an actress occurred in 1974, when María Sorté  participated as part of the cast of the telenovela that would be known under the title Mundo de juguete. The following year, in 1975, she was in the telenovela Paloma , in which she was in charge of playing the role of Anita.

A little later, in 1976, when she appeared in the film known as Red Zone, the following year in 1977, María Sorté  was in the film The Indian is not to blame. While the following year she appeared giving life to different characters in the television series El Show de Eduardo II. During this same year we would see her appear in the film that was known as Los victoradores .

María Sorté  was part of the cast of the film known by the name of El fuego de mi ahijata . While in the world of soap operas, she participated in Amor prohibido. During the following year, 1980, we would see her appear in the films known by the names of The Testament, and With the Borrowed Body . While in the field of soap operas we could enjoy her performance in Colorina , where she gave life to the role of Mirta.

In the year 1981 María Sorté  made her appearance on the big screen with the film known as El barrendero, the following year, in 1982 she was present in the telenovela Por amor, giving life to the character of Belén. And from the period from 1983 to 1984, she appeared as part of the cast of the telenovela registered in the horror genre and known by the name of El Maleficio  and we cannot ignore the fact that it would also be in 1984 when María Sorté would stand out in the world of music with the presentation of the song “Wait for me one night” .

A few years later,  María Sorté  participated in the telenovela Abandonada with the character of Daniela, she also made her appearance on the big screen with the film known as El hombre de la mandolina. While during the year 1986 she released the single “I want to always be yours” , and in the world of the big screen she appeared in El hijo del viento .

Without a doubt, the María Sorté ‘s musical career was highly accepted by all her fans, also in those years it was common for actresses to make the leap to music but she really had a good voice but she did not manage to have great hits and relevant themes that would last over time. of time, being so that in the year 2000 María Sorté released “Siempre Tuya” which would be her last record material.

During the following year, in 2001, María Sorté  was part of the cast of the telenovela that was known under the title Mujer bonita , where she gave life to the character of Sol; She also appeared with the character of Amparo Ibáñez in the telenovela Sin sin concebido, later she would be in the skin of María Magdalena in the telenovela called Between love and hate. In the same way, this year her name appeared as a nominee at the TVyNovelas Awards in the category of “best co-star actress”, thanks to her work in the production of Sin sin concebido, a telenovela in which she shared credits with  Itatí Cantoral ,  Luis Roberto Guzmán ,  Ana Bertha Espín , among others.

While the following year, in 2003, María Sorté  participated in the period novel known as Amor real, in which she was in charge of interpreting the character of Rosaura. Being in this same year when she would appear in the INTE Awards as a nominee in the category of “supporting actress” , thanks to her work in Between love and hate. In 2005 she was a guest actress on the television program called La Hora Pico.

In 2004, María Sorté  gave life to the character of Celia Gómez de Santibáñez in the soap opera known as Mujer de madera. Two years later, in 2006, we would see her as part of the cast of Amor sin límites where she played Clemencia Huerta. And she also appeared in La verdad oculta as Yolanda Rey.

While in 2007 her name appeared as a nominee at the TVyNovelas Awards in the category of “best leading actress “, thanks to her work in Amar sin límites, later we would see her in more projects such as Fuego en la sangre, Mar de amor, Final time 3, The storm, May God forgive you, Heart that lies, among many others.

At the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 , María Sorté appeared in the telenovela “Soltero con hijas” , starring Gabriel Soto and Vanessa Guzmán . In the telenovela “Soltero con hijas” María Sorté  shared credits with other great actors and actresses such as Charlotte Carter , Víctor González, Irina Baeva , Pablo Montero , Jason Romo , Mayrín Villanueva, René Strickler,  Azul Guaita, Laura Vignatti, Sebastián Poza , Bárbara Islas, among others.

In mid-2021, he arrived for one of the most important projects of the moment for María Sorté with “Designing your love”  , a telenovela produced by Pedro Ortiz de Pinedo for Televisa which was an adaptation of the novel of Portuguese origin Meu Amor by António Barreira. The telenovela starred  Gala Montes , Juan Diego Covarrubias ,  Ana Belena ,  Chris Pazcal  and  Osvaldo de León; addressed the story of a beautiful girl who loves fashion but she works in a pasteurization factory, however, she will meet bad people who will intend to take her money and her father’s company, deceiving her to help her fulfill her dreams, generating From that moment on, a whole wave of events unraveled throughout history. In the telenovela “Designing your love” the actress María Sorté played Consuelo. 

About her character Consuelo in the telenovela “Designing your love” actress María Sorté commented:  “Consuelo is a mother who has three children: one is a model, who has a terrible mishap and her mother suffers with her; another is a taxi driver, and a son who is a boy’s love with other people, but he does not love his mother ”.
