Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo Pallás, came into the world on March 26, 1948 in Mexico City. His parents were Óscar Ortiz de Pinedo, of Cuban origin and also an actor, and Lupita Pallás, of Mexican nationality. He also lived his entire childhood with his two brothers: Laila and Óscar. 

His family already had an artistic tradition, so Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo’s  interest in dedicating himself to show business is not surprising. Regarding his birth, his parents were on an artistic tour of Colombia, and his mother gave birth to him during riots in 1948, which would be known in history as ” The Bogotázo”. This was chaos, because the company in which his parents were working broke up and later, the theater in which his father was making appearances at that time caught fire. 

In the midst of all this problem,  Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo ‘s parents were unable to register their son at either the Mexican or Cuban embassy, ​​as they were closed. Thus, the couple formed by Óscar and Lupita left Colombia and crossed the Andes. Once in Caracas, Venezuela, they boarded a cargo ship in La Güaira, and that is how they arrived at the port of Veracruz, in Mexico, where they finally registered Jorge.
