Who is Dalu?

María Fernanda Borunda Medina , better known only as Dalú, is a famous singer-songwriter and exponent of the pop genre who became famous in 2020 after becoming the winner of La Academia on TV Azteca. Dalú was born on August 29, 1995 in Culiacán Sinaloa and is currently considered one of the best singers in the entire country.

Beginnings in the life of Dalú

María Fernanda Borunda Medina, better known by the stage name of Dalú , came into the world on the date of August 29, 1995 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. It is our knowledge that her attraction to the world of music runs in the family, since her father is a musician, and he was in charge of raising her since she was 3 years old.

His first approach to music was when Dalú  was 8 years old and he stood out for his singing in his elementary school. However, it was not until he was in high school that he began to write songs and showed interest in learning to play the guitar.

Having already acquired some ability to play the guitar, Dalú entered different contests in which he made his own musical creations known. She quickly became well recognized for her talent, to the extent that the Sinaloa Institute of Culture (ISIC) invited her to the city of Miami, United States to make herself known along with other singers such as Rudy Pérez, who by the way he gave him a lot of advice for the further development of his musical career.

This is how in 2016 he released his first single entitled “Dime”, which has a music video. A short time later , Dalú  released her second single, which she gave the title “Elvi’s Look”, whose video was recorded in Phoenix, Arizona. We cannot ignore the fact that it was in the same year 2016 when she released his first album to which she gave her stage name Dalú, which contains 10 songs written by his own handwriting.

Later, in 2018, Dalú  presented the single “Breathless”. While the following year, in 2019, he released the songs “Driving in my car”, “Amigo” and “Beginner”, which were found as part of his album known as Session Garage. This is how we got to last year 2020, when she made public the songs of “Inquebrantable”, “Mejor solo”, “Traviesa”, “10 minutos” and “Cruel”. 

His musical work has been described as unique, it could not be more original, since Dalú  has his own style that up to now does not follow any stereotype. Although we can notice the influence of different musical genres such as: hip hop, rock, soul, country, funk and pop. In addition to the fact that in various interviews she has recognized that the artists who have inspired her have been  Shakira , Kany García, Ha*Ash, Yuridia, Jessie J, Taylor Swift , Shania Twain, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. So we could place her musical genre so far as the one known by the name of “Latin pop”.

Dalú and his story at La Academia

Although Dalú was already building his career in music and had a history of great triumphs and successes in his musical career, it would not be until mid-2019 when all of Mexico would know of his existence when he appeared as one of the contestants on the La Academia de TV Azteca, where in addition to Dalú we were able to meet other personalities such as Isbo and  Dennis Arana .

Dalú was demonstrating from the concert one that she was one of the best and surprised the judges  Danna Paola , Alexander Acha , Remmy Valenzuela , Arturo López Gavito and Horacio Villalobos  who always praised her great talent and vocal capacity.  The Academy that was led by  Adal Ramones and Cynthia Rodríguez in the driving. Sadly , Remmy only appeared in the first show and at the second concert he disappeared and never came out again, besides being eliminated from all promotional shows. Apparently Pati ChapoyHe had not liked the singer’s participation as a judge and assured that “it was unnecessary and that he did not even know who he was.” 

Without a doubt, her great rise to fame at an international level recently after being the winner of the musical reality show called La Academia during the past year 2020. We must mention that after hearing the news that she had been a finalist and winner, Dalú announced to her followers that is among his plans was to give a concert with the format “in the front row” in the Ajusco.

In addition , Dalú told the entertainment press that her time at La Academia not only led her to catapult the dream that she had had since childhood of becoming a famous singer, it also made her acquire a lot of maturity, at the same time that she used her talent to compose , transformed bad experiences into magnificent songs. This is how she expressed it in her own words: “Participating in this contest left me with a lot of maturity, I was very vulnerable there, but once I got out, I matured, I learned from my mistakes and I reflected it in my lyrics on this new album. She ”she pointed out, referring to the creation of her most recent musical production of hers entitled Rojita, of which he purposely pointed out that more than half of the songs express or relate experiences that he had within the reality show as a participant.

This is how in mid-2021 Dalú The winner of the reality show La Academia 2019-2020 edition, released her first album in which her own father was the producer, musical director and arranger of the songs that made up this first recording material of the singer .
