Who is C. Tangana?

Antón Álvarez Alfaro better known as C. Tangana is a famous Spanish singer exponent of the Latin rap and trap genre who, thanks to his musical talent, has achieved great successes such as “Too many women, Atheist, You left me wanting, Touching you, Before I died , Ungovernable, Eat you whole” , among many more. The singer  C. Tangana was born on July 16, 1990 in Madrid, Spain and is currently considered one of the best singers in Spain with the greatest international projection.

Antón Álvarez Alfaro, better known as C Tangana was born in Madrid in 1990 , from a very young age he showed great gifts for music and assured that whenever he could he sang at family parties and those of his friends because it was something that made him feel very happy. When he arrived at the university he graduated in philosophy from the Complutense, and in the year 2006, when he still called himself Crema, he began to release his first songs with his now successful group Agorazein.

In the 90s, underground rap was booming with such iconic figures as Nach, Tote King, El Chojin and SFDK among other old school classics. By 2008 Agorazein was already achieving a great boom within the urban genre and his name Crema (which served as his artistic name at that time) was beginning to have a great momentum and many already knew him.

Antón Álvarez, whom we now know as C Tangana  , decided to move away from music because he had some personal problems that led him to decide to take a break, but it was not for long as he re- emerged as C. Tangana , maintaining that innovative spirit that took him to the center of the scene in 2008, but now, focused, focusing on offering a new rhythm, a sound that would make trap the new genre.

It was perhaps the years 2015 and 2016 when C. Tangana made a leap with the necessary momentum to reach an audience that went beyond hip hop and underground rap. His 10/15 mixtape has been one of his biggest hits in the genre as it took him to the sky on the radio charts.

His signing with Sony Music marked a definitive turning point in 2017 for a career that is already impossible to put a ceiling on since his success was unstoppable in the coming years, becoming considered one of the best Spanish singers and with the greatest projection in all of Latin America. 

A short time later C.Tangana drew a lot of attention for his fight with Los Chikos del Maíz since they harshly criticized him for the song  called Alligators in whose video clip he was dressed in the well-known crocodile clothing brand. After the man from Madrid “wrecked” them with ” Nada” on his 10/15 mixtape, Los Chikos del Maíz answered him with Los Pollos Hermanos, a topic that C Tangana took just a few hours to answer with Los Chicos de Madriz. The controversy was such that even political personalities in Spain echoed this open war of rappers positioning themselves and giving their opinion on one side or the other.

Another of the great scandals of the singer C. Tangana  was in the song Pop Ur Pussy , which attracted a lot of attention because it questioned the role of gender differentiation, as well as direct involvement and support for the LGTBI community, something which is not usually very common in artists of the urban genre and less trap who generally do not have any kind of connection with the gay community.

Tangana . The promotion of this album began with the release of the song “Demasiadas Mujeres”, released in October 2020, and then continued with the presentation of the other singles, “Tú Me Dejaste de Querer”, “Comerte Entera” “Nominao” and ” Hong Kong”, all those songs were a tremendous success for C. Tangana. On this album he also included a collaboration with the singer  Ed Maverick  on the song “Párteme la cara”.

After the consecration of C. Tangana in 2021 not only for having achieved three Latin Grammys and having been named “Singer of the Year” ; At the beginning of his Sin Cantar Ni Afinar Tour 22 ‘through Latin America and Europe, C. Tangana released his first compilation album entitled “La Sobremesa” to gather in a single album his greatest hits and some new songs.

Throughout his successful musical career and for that moment, C. Tangana had managed to consolidate a career not only with songs by himself but also his collaborations had been very successful, some of the most outstanding had been; “Ateo” with  Nathy Peluso , “I shouldn’t have kissed you” with  Paloma Mami , among others.
