He was part of the Kabah group for thirteen and a half years where he had tremendous success as he was considered one of the legendary pop bands in Mexico; he has also worked as a conductor and is also a pioneer of skin perception. He focused on alternative medicine by studying Bach flower remedies, physiognomy, anatomy, nutrition, iridology, neurolinguistic programming, homeopathy, auriculotherapy, and herbalism at the Holistic University of Mexico.

Apio Quijano and his time in Kabah

Formed in late 1993 , Kabah, named after the massive Mayan ruins of the Yucatan, became a national sensation when they starred in the popular Mexican soap opera Aguejetas De Color in January 1994. The following summer, they dropped first in a competition at the Festival Valores Juveniles Acapulco.

They repeated their success the next three years. In February 1996, the group became a spokesperson for Fanta/Coca Cola on Mexican television. While her self-produced, self-titled debut album showed signs of commercial success to come, Kabah broke through with her second album, La Calle De Las Sirenas (The Street of Mermaids) . Released in March 1997, the album sold over 500,000 copies and was awarded three gold and one platinum album. Their third album, Esperanto , was released in August 1998; XNE followed two years later.

In 2003 they would release “La Vuelta al mundo” which turned out to be a tremendous success that they themselves did not expect, two years later they released ” El Pop ” an album that even their greatest hits remastered to later announce their separation although it did not turn out to be the definitive one because in 2014 they met again with OV7 to tour the entire Mexican Republic and in 2017 they joined the project “Join the party” which turned out to be a failure because they tried to be the competition of the 90’s Pop Tour where later They would join in their last stage and launch an unpublished song called “Forever” that failed.

Celery Quijano after Kabah

Apio, as his family and friends call him, is now a host, writer, teacher, and therapist focused on alternative medicine with skills in healing, telepathy, and hypnosis. However, he also continues to sing when they get to have a presentation with his former Kabah group, such as when they appeared on the 90’s Pop Tour and he was also a judge on the fashion program “Este es mi estilo” on TV Azteca.

When the Kabah group came to an end , Apio focused on alternative medicine, studying Bach flower remedies, physiognomy, anatomy, nutrition, iridology, neurolinguistic programming, homeopathy, auriculotherapy, and herbal medicine at the Holistic University of Mexico. He also studied Kirlian camera, numerology, face reading, aura and divination. He gained knowledge of Remote Viewing with Ed Dames, and was certified as an Angel Channeler with Doreen Virtue, Aura-Soma with Edith Soto, Plume of Light with Shanto Dorsey, Reiki with Jorge Edenberg, and Incarnation Star Healer with Mike Booth. .

He is currently an Aura-Soma therapist, auric healer, teacher of psychism, remote viewing, numerology, divination and aura. He also teaches a healing course called Abriendo caminos. Later he had some sporadic appearances in television programs such as Telehit’s Picnic, as well as participations in the program TODAY and on the radio with Jordi Rosado “Despierta mi bien Despierta”.

In 2014, the former Kabah presented his fourth book entitled ‘Dream that you have wings’ in which he shares his healing experiences, angels and other circumstances that changed his life. “Dream that you have wings” talks about the signs that appear in our life wanting to transmit messages from angels, as well as the meaning of our dreams. Previously, he had already released his books: 365 tips to change your life, Mirada Mágica and Awake in me.

It was in 2017 when Apio Quijano participated as host of the cable television program “I want to look famous” where his fashionista facet was first known. His interest in fashion began when he studied color and fashion, and this is how he aroused interest in certain designers and developed his own style. Later he also had sporadic appearances in “Cambiame el Look” hosted by Angie Taddei. At the same time , Kabah returned with the single “Forever” but it went unnoticed, being a tremendous musical failure.

In 2018 , Apio Quijano suffered an age crisis because he was reaching 40 years of age and felt that he had to look young, as he recounted in an interview: “The years do not pass in vain. I think that men, when we are entering 40, we live in this situation that we want to look young in any way. There are people who are looking for younger girls, or who suddenly buy the sports car. You don’t really think about it until you live it and say: ‘That youthful moment is leaving me and you can’t do as many things as before. So it’s a complicated process.”

At the end of 2018, Apio was intoxicated during a tour of the United States in which he would share the stage with the girls of JNS. “It was a pretty ugly situation because we had a show in Austin and it was the first show of the whole tour, I was super excited. With shellfish I got fatally poisoned, I got dehydrated, they gave me drips, I was in the hospital”.

In 2019 Apio Quijano worked as a judge on the program “This is my style” , where he entered to replace the late actress Edith González and share credits on the panel of judges with Shanik Aspe and David Salomón. Apio Quijano appeared only as a guest in the first season but due to how much she liked her short participation, when Edith González died he came in to replace her.
This is my Style was a reality show with an emphasis on fashion broadcast and produced by TV Azteca in collaboration with the Turkish production company AcunMedya in 2019. The program was hosted by Vanessa Claudio .

Likewise, Kabah returned as he joined the successful tour of the 90s Pop Tour in its last leg, being the most successful 90s tour in Mexico where they shared the stage with great music stars such as Fey , JNS , OV7, Mercurio, Magneto, among others. others. “Many things were said about the OV7 and Kabah tour, but that happens when there is something authentic and very successful, like that tour was, the truth is, we agreed with them that at the end of the tour we were going to separate a bit. But it happened on its own, it happened naturally and we went in as a family, it was like going in with all the people we love” , shared Federico Quijano who years before had already done a solo tour with OV7 that was tremendously successful.

In 2020 the Rainbow Tour was the result of complicity and good vibes between the members of JNS and Kabah , who, after the 90’s Pop Tour, decided to continue, now with a more ambitious project, where support for the Gay community and the motto ” Celebrate who you are” were an important part of this tour.

This project, creatively directed by Jorge D’Alessio , took its first steps with a single composed by the nine members of “Rainbow tour” , which could be heard from the first concert at the Arena Monterrey, later they performed at the Arena Mexico City and Telmex Auditorium. “It is not a concert as such, it is an experience, a movement in which people will interact. It is about living a celebration, because we want to tell the world to celebrate with us and to live from that place because only then will we be much happier” , explained Héctor “Apio” Quijano .

“Everyone wants fame” was a television program released in September 2020, it was a musical and vocal talent competition in which the participants have only five days to show what they are made of and be crowned a superstar, to win a grand prize of 50 thousand pesos; This game show had Roger González as the main host and Valeria Cuevas as co-host, this being the first opportunity for her not only as a host but also on Mexican television. Throughout the first season there were several guests who went to liven up the program as observers and even as judges; however, Apio Quijano and La Chupitos stood out.who finally, due to their great acceptance, were considered as main figures for the second season that premiered in January 2021.

The Kabah member spoke for the first time in 2019 about how hard his childhood was and recalled the difficult times he experienced as a child.

“My most difficult battle began in my childhood, imagine that one day my mother came and she told me ‘no son, you were not expected. My dad and my mom already had problems during their pregnancy and that was recent, and then they separated when I was born and 10 years later my mom marries someone else and we go to live with my dad and a nightmare, it was hell. I had my father’s absence and that affects us all, it makes us very insecure, my father was never there and it was like sometimes we didn’t even have anything to eat, it was a very rude abandonment,” he confessed.

The driver recounted that once he hid on the roof of his house until someone asked for him, but it was not until 24 hours later that his father realized he was not there and called the police. In addition, Quijano assured that when he was a child he was very noisy, which caused him not to want to go to school, because they even pushed him.
