Alfonso Herrera Rodríguez , better known only as Alfonso or Poncho Herrera, is a famous singer and film and television actor who has stood out in his long artistic career in projects such as Rebelde, Under Siege: Mexico, The Exorcist and The Dance of the 41. Alfonso Herrera was born on August 28, 1983 in Mexico City and is also very famous for having been part of the RBD musical group for almost 6 years.

Alfonso Herrera Rodríguez, better known in the world of acting as just Alfonso Herrera or Poncho Herrera , was born on August 28, 1983 in Mexico City. We are aware that his childhood years were spent divided between Mexico City and the City of Guadalajara. And it is considered that the beginnings of his artistic career are located when he began to participate in plays among which we can mention: The witches of Salem, How to kill a mockingbird, and Antigone.

Shortly after his debut on the big screen, the producer of youth novels Pedro Damián called him to give him the role of Juan David Rodríguez Pineda in the soap opera known as Clase 406 , which was broadcast between the years 2002-2003, a novel with which he would win the MTV Movie Awards with the category of “favorite villain” , thanks to his excellent performance in Amar te duele.

Although Alfonso Herrera  had already participated in some telenovelas, he undoubtedly achieved tremendous success with ‘Rebelde’, a Mexican telenovela produced by Televisa. In the soap opera Rebelde, Poncho Herrera gave life to the character of Miguel Arango Cervera , one of the six protagonists of the melodrama, who studies at the fictional Elite Way School. 

‘ Rebelde ‘, was based on the famous Argentine novel ‘Rebelde Way’ which was a great success, during three seasons in which it had more than 440 episodes. It started in 2004 and the final episode was broadcast in June 2006. On November 30, 2004, shortly before the premiere of ‘Rebelde’, Alfonso Herrera  and some other cast members released an album called ‘Rebelde’. Their success led to the formation of a musical group of the pop genre called RBD in which Alfonso Herrera , Anahí, Christian Chávez , Christopher Uckermann, Dulce María and Maité Perroni participated.. RBD was officially formed on October 30, 2004 and eventually became one of the most successful Latin pop groups, selling millions of copies worldwide. They also went on several world tours. The success of RBD led to her next project, ‘RBD: La familia’. Production was completed in the first quarter of 2007 with the first episode airing on March 14, 2007, but it only ran for thirteen episodes, ending on June 13, 2007.

Poncho Herrera would add to his career the film that became known as El baile de los 41, which premiered on the Netflix platform in 2021, a film where we are told about the experiences of a homosexual congressman who has become secretly married to the daughter of the president of Mexico, and later they will find this same congressman in an affair with a young man at a private party. In the movie “El baile de los 41”, the actor Emiliano Zurita would be in charge of interpreting the character of Evaristo Rivas. An interesting aspect to highlight regarding this film is that it is based on historical facts, referring to the experiences of the son-in-law of President Porfirio Díaz. Among other personalities in the cast were; Alfonso Herrera  played Ignacio de la Torre in the series El Baile de los 41 , Mabel Cadena (as the president’s daughter, Amanda Díaz), and Fernando Becerril (in charge of interpreting the character of President Porfirio Díaz).
