Who is TAICHU?

Tiase López,  better known as TAICHU, is a famous Argentine trap singer who, thanks to her great talent, has achieved great musical successes such as “Who, Tolkin Yit, ABC, Luxury, Cheese, Race, Free Dolly”, among others. Trapper TAICHU was born on April 22, 2001 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is currently considered one of the best exponents of the urban genre throughout her country.

Tiase López, better known in the world of musical entertainment under the stage name of Taichu , was born on the date of April 22, 2001 in Argentina. Regarding her birth name, she herself has been honest in various interviews that : “Taise is a name of Hindu origin that means “Goddess of beauty”. My mom had me young.”

It is our knowledge that since she was a child she felt attracted to the world of musical entertainment. Being that when he was 15 years old, Taichu was  already singing flamenco, partly due to the influence of his mother, who works as a dancer and did not hesitate to include her in different events that brought Taichu closer to the world of art. Regarding her musical influences, we have to mention that since she was little she took singing classes, and finished records by Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and Jorja Smith.

A short time later, he ventured into the medium of rap and hip hop, with artists such as Nina Simone and Erykah Badu. Perhaps for many this change could be very abrupt, but for Taichu it was totally natural: “I was half a step away from hip hop, it was something generational, I would go to the river or to the square and my friends were rapping, it was also music that I listened to. Jorja Smith has that thing that she raps but she doesn’t show, she’s singing but she raps. She loved that and she was assimilated into what she wanted to do.”

However, before these experiences she did not feel that she wanted to dedicate herself entirely to rap, although she did like freestyle battles, she admired singers and wanted to compose, but she did not go beyond considering improvisation (the art of rap) as a mere exercise, but it was certainly something that  Taichu loved.

Little by little, Taichu began to approach the world of rap , building a particular flow, which according to some critics falls between hip hop and R&B. This is how, regarding this period of his life, he has declared in different interviews that: “I don’t have those 4×4 rap rules, it’s like a gray between the two things. I put a flow on it, but rap has things that rappers respect and they have re-incorporated it; me not so much If this word doesn’t rhyme with this one, but I like it, I’ll still put it in and I like how it turns out.”

In this way, it is like the only thing that Taichu was missing was someone to produce the “perfect beat”, since this person arrived when he met Kuribo, producer of several of his musical themes. This is how he launched his first big hit, which is known under the title of “ Luxury ”. About this song we know that Taichu came with Kuribo already with the lyrics of the song, although he still needed to put together the melody and he was not very clear about how he wanted the beat to be, which is considered to end as “dark about a sadgirl aesthetic”. .

About the beginnings of his artistic career, Taichu has commented that: “I was encouraged to compose when I got into rap. Watching freestyles and competitions made me feel like I could do it too, it helped me figure out how to write a song, even though I’ve never competed or shot frees (referring to freestyle songs).” She considers that she formally began to make music seriously in 2018, when she was 17 years old and a friend of hers invited her to sing the song “Don’t deny me” by Pavlo.

We must point out that the musical theme of “Luxury” was a great success, which made Taichu take the great leap to fame in his artistic career , being that his respective music video, made without any budget, came to exceed the 40 thousand reproductions on the YouTube platform.

Soon after, she was one of the founders of the RIP Gang along with artists known as:  Dillom , Saramalacara, Muerejoven , Odd Mami, Quentin, Noduermo, K4, Carrey and of course Kuribo. She later appeared in Buenos Aires Trap and headlined a festival at the Palermo Hippodrome along with her friends called Lara 91k, Chita and Catnapp.
