Who is ozuna?

Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado better known only as Ozuna is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter exponent of the reggaeton and Latin trap genre who throughout his artistic career has achieved musical successes such as; Time, I threw you away, Taki Taki, The Model, The Faker, Genuine Love, Crazy Pod, among others. Ozuna was born on March 13, 1992 in San Juan Puerto Rico and in 2018 he made his acting debut in the Dominican film Qué León .

Beginnings in the life of Ozuna

Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, better known in the world of musical entertainment only as Ozuna , was born on March 13, 1992 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is our knowledge that his father worked as a dancer for a period of time that included 3 years with the singer Vico C. However, his father died when Ozuna was only 3 years old, and since his mother it was impossible to support him due to financial problems, he went to live with his grandmother. This is how as a child he helped in his family’s hair accessories business in Río Piedras.

Since he was little, Ozuna showed interest in the world of music, especially in the urban genre, so that at the age of 12 he composed his first songs. It was in 2010 when he went to live in New York City with relatives who were located in Washington Heights, so for three years he sought opportunities in the music industry. When he returned to his native land, he devoted himself totally to music, motivated by his natural interest, so he began to publish demos on the internet under the stage name of J. Oz, and later it is when he decided to use the his last name as a pseudonym.

It is considered that the formal beginning of his artistic career occurred with his debut back in 2012 with the song known as “ Imaginando ”, shortly after he would release the songs: “Igual como tú”, “Juegos of love”, “It was released”, “Electric music”, to mention just a few, without a doubt  Ozuna was ready to take the musical world by storm.

The following year, in 2013, Ozuna  released to the public the songs of: “Parcerita bonita”, “El desquite”, “Pa’que perren”, “Que se prenda la disco”, “Diferentes poses” , among others. plus. In the same way, for the year 2014, he released the songs of: “Mai que locura”, “Contigo tengo todo”, “Se toca todita”, “Mírame”, “En otro mundo”, among many other songs that made him the center of attention of a talent scout. This is how in this same year he signed a contract with the record company Golden Family Records , which gave him the opportunity to launch his musical career to fame with the single “Si no te quiere” , in which he collaborated with rapper D .OZi.

This is how, between 2014 and 2015, Ozuna  worked with the producers known as Los de la Nazza, who have distinguished themselves by working with artists like Daddy Yankee and with such success that  Ozuna  released the songs . Titled as: “False lies”, “Silk heart”, “If your husband does not love you”, “He does not want to fall in love” and “If you let yourself go”, being that in this last song he participated with the artist Juanka; all of them were great successes in Ozuna’s musical career

The year 2016 is when Ozuna obtained international recognition, thanks in part to his collaboration with the song “La ocasión” together with the artists DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz, a song that we must mention that became the first single from the Latin trap musical genre that achieved international success. After a few months, he collaborated with the remix version of the song and was present at different concerts that took him to tour Europe and several Latin American countries. It is considered that this year his fame took an exceptional turn, making him one of the most searched artists on the internet and with the largest number of songs played in different parts of the world. His reaction to such fame were the following words:“I never imagined that my career would take off so quickly. I think my music has connected with the public because I always have a clear vision of my songs, I want everyone to identify with my songs and for all of us to be part of it in one way or another.”

It was in this year that  Ozuna released the album that is considered his debut, called Odyssey , where in addition to being a singer he stood out as a composer and which achieved sales that surprised more than one because they did not imagine that the album would be a tremendous hit. 

The following year, in 2017 Ozuna became co-founder with Vicente Saavedra of the independent record company called Dímelo Vi. So in February of that year he announced on his Instagram account the release of the album Odisea with his own record label , although this publication did not come out until August 25, since in June they signed with Sony Music Latin. The result of the launch was a complete success, to the extent that the president of Sony Music Latin commented: “Ozuna’s successful rise in the music field over the last year is an extraordinary phenomenon. We are proud to be able to offer our support to Vicente and Dímelo Vi in this new phase of Ozuna’s brilliant career.”

Subsequently, in 2018 it was announced that he would launch the studio album that was known as Aura , whose first single “La modelo”  premiered with great success in December of that year. The song was a success and was among the most privileged places on Billboard’s Latin Airplay and Latin Rhythm charts. This album included the collaborations of the artists: Manuel Turizo , Romeo Santos, J Balvin, Anuel AA , Akon, Nicky Jam, Natti Natasha , Wisin y Yandel, Cardi B, and RKM & Ken-Y, the vast majority of these Ozuna collaborations  were a complete success.

In the same way, it was this year when the host of the program El gordo y la flaca, named Clarissa Molina, Ozuna announced that she would make her film debut playing the leading role in the Dominican-produced film called Qué León , where she would give life to the character of José Miguel León, being that the song of his authorship “Vaina loca” was part of the soundtrack of the film.

It was also in 2018 when Ozuna  had important collaborations with the artists: Romeo Santos (with the song “Sobredosis”), Reik Jesús Navarro (with the song “I refuse”), Anuel AA (with the song “Brindemos”) , Nicky Jam (with the song from “Equis version remix”), Wisin (with the song from “I would like to get away”), DJ Snake and  Selena Gómez (with the song from “Taki Taki”).

While the following year, in 2019, Ozuna  released the studio album titled Nibiru to the public , released on the date of November 29 of that year. The album contained tracks that included the genres of: ballads, trap, merengue, and bachata. In this regard, the artist Ozuna commented that: “I am a general artist, with influences from different styles.” So the album became a success, debuting in the United States at number 41 on the list known as the Billboard 200, while it ranked first on Top Latin Albums. At the same time that in Mexico I obtained the gold certification.

In September of that year, Ozuna was recognized with 4 Guinness records for being the most reproduced artist on YouTube and then he appeared on screen again with the same character as José Miguel León for the film known under the title of Los Leones  and for If so many hits weren’t enough, he released the album known as Enoch .

In 2021 Ozuna  released the album Los dioses, which he joined with  Anuel AA  to release an entire collaborative album. The album was confirmed by Ozuna in August 2018 after he gave an interview for the Rapetón channel and when everyone thought that this record material was cancelled, in the middle of 2021 the cover was released and then it was finally released. Los dioses  was an album of 12 songs in total, highlighting among the most successful “Los dioses, La María, RD, Nunca y Ammunition”, among others.

But the successes did not even stop the release of more and new songs as Ozuna showed that he still had a lot of musical artillery to continue being considered one of the greatest exponents of the urban genre at that time; That was how he released more songs like; “Travesuras” with Casper Mágico and Nio García, “No drama” with Becky G , “Odisea”, included in Karol G ‘s album , “Envidioso” in collaboration with  Ovi , “Millionario Remix” with Nicky Jam and  Messiah , ” Diablona” with the new promise of reggaeton Onguito and “Tiempo”, among many more.  

Later Ozuna would return with his facet as an actor in the successful film “Fast and Furious 9”. Within the list of confirmed characters for the ninth installment, Ozuna’s name appeared next to “Santos (young)”, which would be the character that Ozuna played in “Fast and Furious 9”.
