Mora Biography

Beginnings in the life of Mora

Gabriel Mora Quintero, better known in the world of entertainment with the stage name of Mora , was born on April 18, 1996 in San Juan Puerto Rico. His interest in the world of music was born at a very early age, being a simple pastime that he shared with a cousin, in the years in which he thought about what he would do in life.

In his adolescence, the now famous singer  Mora dedicated himself to practicing basketball and tennis, and for a time he studied at a business school, although we must point out that now looking back on his life, Mora feels that since he was a child he was destined to the world of music, this is how he made it known in a recent interview.

“I studied primary school in a very liberal school, in which the students wore uniforms and in which the arts were as important as the other subjects. There I started playing flute from the age of six and I took music classes all the time. When I started high school I went to another school where I really got into sports, but music was still very important to me. When I graduated, I applied to the University of Puerto Rico and they accepted me to study Business Administration, but when I started classes I realized that this was not my thing, that I would not be happy if I dedicated the rest of my life to that. I only lasted two weeks in college.”

To this  Mora commented that he was pretending to go to classes, but the reality was that he was going with a cousin who had recently graduated from music production, the same one that he had studied in the United States. This was how both began to test different music software and produce what would be their first tracks.

Then he was accepted into an online music school and for the singer Mora it was the best because he could finally dedicate himself to what he liked: “I was happy. I downloaded the programs and spent my time making tracks with my cousin. I finally had to drop out of college and tell my parents that I wanted to make music. There I was accepted at an American university and I started taking classes online, but I wasn’t satisfied either. I realized that by searching YouTube tutorials and producing music on my own, I was going to learn more and faster.”

Soon after , Mora  would make the decision to tell his family so that they would not waste money in a university, making him study a career that did not interest him, since for him the most important thing was music. As expected , Mora’s family did not like the idea of dedicating himself to music at all  and they warned him that if he dropped out of university he would find himself totally alone, having to get ahead in the world on his own. .

Despite the fact that everything seemed to be against him, Mora remained firm in his decision and dedicated himself to studying more and producing more songs, since he was very aware that if he wanted to dedicate himself to music, he would have to become very good in a very short time.

This is how Mora went from producing music for fun to being a professional producer , collaborating with a group of artists from the San Juan metropolitan area. And it wouldn’t be long before he decided to be in front of the microphone, when one day he was recording some vocals for a demo, and one of the singers told him: ” You have to get that out “, that’s how he made his debut in music already as an interpreter.

Trajectory and history of Mora

It is considered that the first song that Mora formally made known as a singer was the one known as “Señorita” , where she participated with the artist Rafa Pabón. The success she had was such that she prompted him to release more songs like those known with the titles: “Pensabas”, “Nunca seremos”, “Until when” and “Noche loca”.

Already in 2018  Mora signed with Rimas Entertainment, launching the song entitled ” Miento “, together with the artist El Domino . A short time later he would collaborate with Rafa Pabón again on the song “Me Jukie” , where we cannot forget that the artist Brray also participated in this song . Also during that same year, he would launch songs that would be very successful, and that we know by the names of: “If you are not here” (in collaboration with Myke Towers ), “Laugh or cry”, “I refuse” (in collaboration with Big Soto ), “ Aquellos días”, “Nothing to lose”(jointly with Joyce Santana), “Miradas”, “Una vez” (in which he participated together with the famous artist Bad Bunny ), and the most recent success that we know of “Malagraecida” (where he collaborated with the artists Big Soto and Rafael Pabon).

Mora believes that the last few years have been very productive for his artistic career, and that in a relatively short time Mora  has managed to be liked and preferred by the public in Puerto Rico.

Mora has come to comment that in his collaborative work with other artists, he has never done it for convenience or money. In his words: “I make music with artists with whom I have a good personal relationship, good chemistry. If the song is theirs and they want me to do it, I do it because I like the song. And if I have worked on the subject and an artist is interested in it, I like that they do it because the song moves them, not out of interest. Puerto Rico is small, but it is the Mecca of urban music in Spanish. Everyone knows each other, so it’s easy to collaborate with other artists who are also working hard.”

To this day, Mora , using his skills as a producer and singer, has managed to create his own style, in which there is a clear influence of artists whom he admired since he was a child, and also of singers with whom he has collaborated throughout the years. throughout his artistic career.

“At the beginning I really liked what Tego Calderón, Wisin & Yandel, Daddy Yankee, Zion did… there were so many of them that I took what I liked best from all of them for a change and to develop my own style. And I’ve also been learning from all the artists I’ve worked with. What I feel most comfortable with is doing dancehall and more commercial music; but it got to a point where I had found a formula and wanted to explore other styles and that’s why lately I’ve been incorporating more elements of trap, pop and R&B into my music.”

And it is that despite the fact that he is very successful as a singer and producer, Mora is an artist who maintains a calm rhythm of fame, being little active on his social networks. The singer explains that he likes people to follow him because of the pleasure his music arouses in them, so those who follow him do so because they are alert to his new musical releases, and not because they want to find out about his private life.

For Mora , discipline is something much more important than money, because knowledge can be acquired from anything, if you really have the commitment and interest in learning.

After several years of countless musical successes, in 2021 Mora was recently recognized by Billboard USA as one of the Top 10 Best Producers and Writers in the music industry, since by then he had already collaborated with a large number of singers to whom he had made great successes. hits. Corina Smith, Karol G , Rafa Pabön, Joyce Santana, Big Soto , Myke Towers , Noriel, Bryant Myers, Bad Bunny , Anuel AA , Ozuna, Omy de oro , Lyanno ,  Farruko , Jhay Cortez , Oviand Brray are some of the other artists Mora has collaborated with during her career.

As if that were not enough, more successes came for his own career as a singer, making Mora one of the best exponents of urban music worldwide , some of the most outstanding songs of those moments.

“First Day of Classes” was the first studio album by Puerto Rican artist Mora , released on February 5, 2021 at midnight with the hit “Don’t say anything” as the first single. During his production time, Mora updated on his instagram profile the percentage by which he was about to complete the album. On October 15, he came out with the second single from the album, Pegate (Remix), along with Jhay Cortez , then he would release the single from the album “Cuando será” with Lunay and in May 2021 Mora x Jhay Cortez – 512 achieving more than 15 Millions of views in just one month.
