Who is Kodigo?

Lucas Lautaro Helou , better known as  Kodigo, is a rap singer and freestyler who has achieved great success with songs like Fumo, Big Bong, Koko, Sale el sol, Si quieres volver, Escalera Real, among others. Kodigo was born on March 8, 1995 in Rosario, Santa Fe and is currently considered one of the most important rappers in all of Argentina.

The now famous singer and composer Kodigo from a very young age was very involved in everything related to music, especially thanks to the fact that his family used to listen to many Christian rap songs and he began to feel identified with that musical genre, especially after listen to the singer Vico C who in those years was one of the main references of this genre and the culture of Hip Hop.

It was in 2009 when finally, and after several years of practicing freestyler Kodigo , he felt talented enough to start participating in the famous competitions and battles in his city in order to gain a place within the musical world and above all. the respect of other great figures of the movement. At just a young age , Kodigo enrolled in the “el basement de rosario” competition that would qualify for a national tournament in which he would win and become the representative of the national level competition known as the ” Oriyinala “.“But when he was about to go to the national competition, he had a strong argument with his father who did not disagree with his son dedicating himself to that, so Kodigo decided to take the reins of his life and give priority to his love for freestyle, abandoning your home and family.

Finally Kodigo reached the competition with his own means and participated in the tournament reaching the semifinals where he was eliminated by Rabeat after several aftershocks; After his return to Rosario, he could not return home because of the problem he had with his father, so he found himself having to live on the streets, which would be really difficult for him, but at the same time they would give him the necessary experience to capture all his experiences in the rhymes and phrases that over the years have made him one of the best rappers and freestylers in all of Argentina.

Kodigo gained a great reputation within the freestyle industry after competing in several important events such as  “Montegrande hip-hop convention”, “A Cara de Perro Zoo”, “The King of Freestyle”, “Halabalusa Underground Movement ”, “Freestyle Massacre 2011 Edition” and although he wanted to be part of the famous Red Bull cockfight he could not participate because in those years the event was unemployed but finally in 2012 when the great event returned everyone thought that Kodigo would sign up to show that so many years of work and participation in competitions would undoubtedly have made him one of the best freestylers of the moment, but to everyone’s surprise, he only appeared as a jury.

Kodigo , being a very young rapper, had already achieved what very few have achieved with several years of experience, being a jury member in the famous Red Bull battle of roosters and later decided to launch the film ”A Cara de Perro Zoo” , where he He was narrating what the competition is like with different mc’s, and in which Kodigo ended up being the protagonist of the film because he was the one who appeared the most.

In the round of 16 it would be his turn to fight one of the most legendary battles against Biblo, whom he would win without many complications. Then, in the quarterfinals, he would run into  Papo again, whom he would defeat, surprising everyone because he had previously lost against him, however, after a close battle, even reaching a reply, in which Kodigo would lose again but now against the Mexican  Aczino .

2015 would arrive as one of the best years for Kodigo because after several confrontations and battles, both national and international, he highlighted his participation in the BDM Gold in which he would become the first Argentine mc to become champion in Chile.

Kodigo still wanted to win the Red Bull national, so in 2015, he would qualify for the national final again. However, in the quarterfinals he would face Tata but it turned out to be a highly commented and quite controversial battle, where after a reply,  Tata would defeat Kodigo , but then Tata was accused  of having used prepared rhymes against Kodigo , since although against he was able to beat him with fairly well-crafted phrases with his next opponent Dtoke couldn’t give him any battle.

In March 2019 he released the Ep titled Kulto which included the songs Koko, Flow, Juke and Ric o together with the famous Blunted Vato and a year later he would release another EP “GANGSHIT” which included the hits Makin Dope, Fuertardo, Gang Sith and Yes So Hight.

After presenting several songs as FUMO in mid-July 2020, rapper Kodigo joined  BZRP to present his new single ” Pantera “. “We did it with  BZRP on a campus organized by Paulo Londra in Mendoza. It came out in half an hour because we didn’t have anything to smoke and I started projecting on how badly I wanted to do it. That’s how the chorus and the first verse came out. Then the second verse was added. And as the production of the song progressed, on the drive to the studio, I came up with ‘inspectors are looking for the pink panther.’ A month later Kodigo now did a collaboration with Lit Killah on their new song “It’s Over”.
