Kenny y los Eléctricos is a group of the musical genre of rock that was formed in the 1980s at the initiative of the singer of Mexican origin known by the name of Kenny Avilés Ibarra, who serves as leader and vocalist, whom due to his great talent and renowned musical career has been given the name of “the mother of Mexican rock.”

It is considered that the beginnings of the musical group’s artistic career occurred in the city of Los Angeles, California, United States; where at first they presented themselves as Kenny & The Electrics, making themselves known in places like the Whiskey a Go Go. In the same year of 1980 they moved to Mexico, with the intention of finding their roots and being able to sing in Spanish.

The following year, in 1981,  Kenny y los Eléctricos recorded what was their first album, which was known under the title of Electrimanias , with the New Age Records record label. We cannot leave aside that it was at that time when they began to be made known in different parts of the Mexican Republic. This is how we know that they performed at Satellite Rock along with artists like the so-called Ritmo Peligroso, Chac-Mool, Botellita de Jerez and Taxi; while they also performed in Rockotitlán with bands like Caifanes, Santa Sabina, Rostros Ocultos and Fobia. 

A little later, for the year 1983, Kenny y los Eléctricos  with the independent record label of Comrock, made the recording of an album together with Chela Braniff, Juan Navarro and Ricardo Ochoa, who served as producer of the album. It was shortly after, in the year 1986, when the musical group changed its name to the Spanish language, and since then they have been known as Kenny y los Eléctricos . At that time they released the album called “Juntos por el Rock”, where the singles “Me quieres cotorrear” and “A woman in love” stood out in a particular way.

Later, in 1988, the big record companies, realizing the growing success of the rock music genre in Spanish, made the decision to start looking for talent to represent Mexican rock. So the album called Kenny… y los Eléctricos was recorded , with the record label Discos Melody, and at that time the most famous single of his artistic career emerged, known as “No huyas de mí”, from whose composition commissioned by Ochoa, Kenny and Aleks Syntek. We have to point out that this album became a classic reference of Mexican rock, being very popular at that time in bars, discos and clubs. 

A little later, in the year 1992, the record company Discos Denver released a new material that had already been published in the past by Kenny y los Eléctricos , and which was known under the title of “Toda la non-stop night”. During the following year, they recorded the song “Si no estás aquí”, as well as the single “Satisfáceme si puedes”. 

Later, in 1995, Kenny y los Eléctricos  began performing under the stage name of Kenny y Los Nuevos Eléctricos, after meeting Edgar Carrum. While for the year 1999, the musical group gave an electric acoustic concert which was known under the title of “Electroacoustic Sensations”, with which the new sound of the band was defined for the following decade, which would be the first of the 21st century. 

It was in 2003 when Kenny y los Eléctricos  presented the live album titled Kenny Fest in Rockotitlán in Mexico City. We are aware that Leonardo de Lozanne, Piro and Alejandro Marcovich were invited artists at this event. Later, in 2004, they released the DVD known as La Reina del Rock , where we could find recordings of the concerts called “Sensaciones electroacústicas” and “Kenny Fest”, among others. 

A little later, for the year 2005, we know that Kenny and the Electricians  launched the album known as Sicodelia , in addition to promoting the single called “Pure love”. Later, in 2008, they released the album called Con Tequila en la Sangre , in which the fusion of the musical genres of mariachi and rock can be seen. We must point out that the promotional tour for this studio album toured several cities in Mexico and the United States. While already in 2010, Kenny y los Eléctricos presented the original album known as Sex and Rock & Love . Some time later, in 2013, we are aware that they recorded the albumAnother electroacoustic concert sensation , featuring mariachi and rock versions of classical guitar tunes, as well as featuring notable guest musicians. 

The following year, in 2014, Kenny y los Eléctricos released the album Los jefes del rock mexicano, vol. 1 in which we find compiled materials and the concert called “Otra Sensación”. It should be noted that this album was considered the most representative of the Latino indie movement.

Later, in 2018, Kenny y los Eléctricos  presented the EP Alto Voltaje , for which they had the Titanio Records record label, with the production of Edgar Carrum, recorded in Mexico City and finished editing. in New York City.

In 2020, on the occasion of the celebration of the band’s 40th anniversary, Kenny y los Eléctricos  recorded a live session called Mágica sensación at El Candelero in Mexico City, where they had the participation of friends of the group as well like old members. The singles that became known as advertising for this new production were known under the names: “Let yourself be loved”, “Enigma”, “You want to chatter” and “They say around there”.
