Ile’s biography

iLe is the daughter of actress Flor Joglar de Gracia and musician and producer José Cabra González. From a very young age, she showed that she was destined for music, because whenever she could, together with her brother, she would sit down to compose songs and pretend that they were rock stars. Her singing and piano studies began when she was still in elementary school, where she sang in the choir proving to everyone that she was made for music.

In high school, he worked with Puerto Rican soprano Hilda Ramos and Cuban singer Gema Corredera (the latter from Gema y Pavel). His biggest influence is the singer La Lupe.

Beginnings in music with Calle 13

Before embarking on a solo career, she was best known as a singer and rapper for the reggaeton group Calle 13 under her moniker PG-13 , along with her two brothers Eduardo Cabra Joglar and Rene Pérez.

At 16, Residente picked her up from school and asked her to sing in a demo he and Visitante were working on. The track, “La Aguacatona”, a theme that became Calle 13’s cover letter, with which they managed to be signed with White Lion Records, who were the first to give them an opportunity to succeed in music.

In 2012, she participated in the Banco Popular de Puerto Rico TV Christmas Special, and was chosen by boxer Miguel Cotto to sing the Puerto Rican National Anthem before his fight against Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

iLe and his solo career

When the group came to an end in 2016, she decided to start her career as a singer and release what would be the first album with which she would become known in the world of music and show everyone her artistic proposal.  The career of iLe , his stage name (which he writes with a lowercase “i” so as not to be confused with the letter ele), began at the age of 16 in his native Puerto Rico, when he began touring with his brothers and his popular rap band , hip hop and indie. As a girl she learned to play the piano and liked to sing.

iLe’s sound changes from release to release which makes her quite an avant-garde artist, but she is focused on classic Latin styles. In 2015, iLe announced her stage name and that she was recording a solo album of Afro-Caribbean boleros, boogaloos, mambos, and danzones with co-producer Ismael Cancel.

Before entering the world of music as a soloist, iLe decided to visit several countries to accumulate personal and artistic experiences that forged in her a unique and particular musical identity that would later help her create great musical pieces that would become the playlist of her life. So once her journey was over, iLe decided to go into the recording studio and work on her first self-produced album.

He launched the album iLevitable, which included pop -inspired retro-pop music cuts that showed a true evolution as a singer as he completely moved away from what he came to do with Calle 13 .

Most of the songs on iLevitable were classical tunes, but there were also songs written by his father, sister, and grandmother, centering on themes of sexuality, love in many forms, and heartbreak. It was also an ode to the classics that shaped her musical heart. The set featured some of Puerto Rico’s most famous musicians, including his father, brothers, Cheo Feliciano (in his last recorded appearance), Piro Rodríguez, Charlie Sepúlveda, Bayrex Jiménez and Ciro’s.Fofé Abreu.

His first single and video, ” Canibal “, was released in April, followed by the release of iLevitable in June, which charted in the Top 15 of the Latin album charts. In July, she followed it up with the Kacho López-directed video for the single “Te quiero con Bugalú”. After sold out tours of several countries in Latin America and the United States.

His musical proposal was so good that he earned a Latin Grammy nomination for best new artist, and won a Grammy for best Latin rock , urban or alternative album. After finishing this album with such good results, he took a short break to repair what was his second record material.

iHe sings to El Chapo

One of the greatest successes and successes in iLe’s musical career was participating in the song “Vienen por mi” inspired by “El Chapo” in the series that bore the same name and was originally broadcast on Univisión. It is undoubtedly one of the most successful and most reproduced songs of the ILE singer.

After this great start in music on the right foot and having achieved high sales of his first album, it was time to release his second album called Almadura in 2019. Ile compared it to his predecessor for the shrewd use of experimentation sound with electronics and through traditional Afro-Caribbean and Puerto Rican root sounds in rumbas, bombas and salsa.

“In Almadura I celebrate Afro-Caribbean musical traditions, although not in a pure way. I tried to combine different rhythms within that same root, merge them a bit, create new rhythms. The drum – so imposing, so strong – marks a whole pulse. And each song has its own beat. And everything is spinning through the lyrics” , commented iLe about his album Almadura.

She and Ismael Cancel co-wrote and produced the political album Almadura (its title is a play on the word armor, which literally translates to “strong soul”) after Hurricane Maria. Her songs are filled with emotion, calls to action, and activism for the people who have been colonized by the United States for over a century. Among her host of original tracks are the electro-bomb single ” Odio ” and the sultry salsa ” Déjame Decirte ,” featuring Eddie Palmieri on piano (she also added an interlude to “Mi Novia”). Her sister Milena Pérez offered the song ” De Luna ” and acted as a creative consultant. The lonely bolero on the set is the second single ““, adapts to the various sociopolitical themes of the album. Almadura was released to universally positive reviews in May 2019.
This album failed to be nominated as such at the Grammys as its predecessor did, however its song “Contra Todo” did manage to be nominated as such at the Grammys. the nomination for “Best Alternative Song”.

In September 2019, she released the single Ñe Ñe Ñé, a song against corruption and colonialism, in the video the singer appears singing in the streets of Puerto Rico, accompanied by five musicians. The video clip was recorded on Calle Bolívar, located in Santurce, a neighborhood in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico that is considered the most populated neighborhood in all of Puerto Rico.

Aldura is an album of contrasts because it is made up of melodies with romantic rhythms like the bolero, but with lyrics that have more to do with the social and political issues that worry the artist. “These are mostly quite confrontational songs. They come out of a very personal place, from where I am exploring a little what I perceive of the reality where I am”.

The album includes a collaboration with the pianist –also Puerto Rican– Eddie Palmieri, a luxury that the artist never thought he could have. The musician worked on the songs “My girlfriend” and “Let me tell you” . “All the songs emerge as an outlet,” said the interpreter. “That’s why it seemed important to me to record these songs returning to the style of before.”

Ile scandals

Support removing Ricardo Roselló from power

Ile was one of the artists who joined the movement that tried to remove Ricardo Roselló from power. Although many applauded her, there was no shortage of those who called her an opportunist, even so, she shared that what happened in her country was a pleasant surprise, since that rarely the population unites in a single voice to demand their rights.
“It is difficult for us to react massively and that is why everything we have experienced in recent days is so important. It is the first time that something has been done against a governor, but from this we learned many things and we demonstrated the power that the people have.”

He recalled that during the difficult times experienced by Hurricane Maria, they had the opportunity to learn many things. ” It’s important to recognize all that we can achieve as a country and continue to do so . “
Thanks to this iLe movement , his brother De él Residente and Bad Bunny released “Afilando Los Cuchillos” , a powerful song that condemns Rosselló’s unfortunate leaked statements. The song achieved more than 8 million views in just two months.

Pack of iLe

Although on social networks and the internet people search a lot for the iLe pack or for photos in which they can be seen scantily clad or in sensual poses, the truth is that currently there is no iLe pack other than those photos that the artist has published on their own networks and that could be considered as sexy.

How much is iLe’s fortune?

This is one of the questions that people ask themselves the most about iLe and although they always end up answering it on other pages with “I don’t know” or “it depends” if there are some estimates that various web portals mention. iLe has a fortune valued at more than 2 million dollars tax free and that undoubtedly makes this artist one of the highest paid and highest earning personalities in his country. He would only need a few million more to enter the top 100 of the highest paid artists in her field.
