Carlos Luis Guerrero Gallegos , better known as Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” is a famous sports commentator and host of several television shows such as Los Protagonistas and Survivor México. Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” was born on September 20, 1979 in Mexico City and is currently considered one of the best sports conductors on Mexican television.

Beginnings in the life of Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior”

Carlos Luis Guerrero Gallegos, better known as Carlos Guerrero or “El Warrior” in the world of entertainment, was born in Mexico City on September 20, 1979. At the age of 6, he went to live with his family in the city of Irapuato, Guanajuato, where he lived until he finished his high school studies.

Regarding his childhood, Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” ,  due to the influence of his father and his brother, from a very young age he was passionate about soccer. Very often they took him to games of the team known by the name of América, of which his entire family seems to be a fan. Thus, in his own words, he expresses: “I think that the passion that I feel for soccer today has a lot to do with the fact that in my childhood I was used to going to the stadium, they taught me to go to a stadium, to have respect for it and to enjoy the place” . It is not surprising that the team in which he focuses his soccer fans is América .

In the year 1996 Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior”  made his first transmission on Telecable del Centro, counting at that time only 16 years old. It is curious how Carlos Guerrero still has pleasant memories of this experience, and in this regard he tells us that it was a Sunday when he received a call from a Televisa producer, who told him that he wanted to do a casting for him, but at that time,  Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” , as a teenager, did not pay much attention to the call and did not fully believe that Televisa wanted him in their ranks. It was the next day when he received a call, this time from a producer from the competing company, TV Azteca, already almost securing his job, and that is how he ended up working for TV Azteca.

Back in the year 1998 Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior”  entered De La Salle University to study Communication Sciences. And it would be during this same year when he would become part of Radio y Televisión de Guanajuato (currently known as TV4), where he worked as a host for newscasts and sports programs. Shortly after, he would be called by the television station TV Azteca Bajío to be a member of the broadcast of the news program known as Hechos Bajío.

Later, in the year 2000, Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior”  reached the rank of correspondent in the television program known as Los Protagonistas en Vivo with José Ramón Fernández. Regarding this experience, Carlos Guerrero tells us that it was difficult for him to face this great figure of sports journalism in Mexico. Carlos had gone to see José Ramón about three times since he started working for TV Azteca.

The first time, he tells us that he was in contact with David Faitelson, who regularly went to do work in the city of León, the capital of Guanajuato, and with whom he had the most confidence. It was David Faitelson who took him to José Ramón Fernández’s office for the first time, where he only lasted 10 seconds because of the nerves caused by being with whom for Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” and for Mexico is such an important figure in the matter.

Among how brief this first interview was, José Ramón asked Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” if he had more knowledge than César Luis Menotti or Valdano, to which El Warrior ‘s response was negative. So José Ramón told him to come back when he had more experience. And after a few months, he received a call from David Faitelson to narrate the León vs. Pumas match, which meant his debut.

And it would be two years later, around the middle of 2002, when Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” would have the opportunity that he would not miss to be an official part of the TV Azteca Mexico team, during the time the World Cup was held in Japan and Korea.

Throughout his career Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior”  has stood out as an interviewer for great figures in the sports world such as soccer players known by the names of Rafael Márquez and Chicharito Hernández , he has also interviewed Manuel Lapuente, a prominent technical director, and high-ranking figures in Mexican politics such as former President Vicente Fox Quezada.

Something for which Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” has stood out , is to always be grateful to his alma mater, the De La Salle Bajío University, and his way of showing such great gratitude is by encouraging the young people who enter as students of this prestigious institution, to get more and more involved with the media, where he emphasizes the importance of handling good spelling and writing; something that in his opinion is essential for those who are going to dedicate themselves to working to inform people.

In 2004 Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior”  was as a commentator during the Eurocup Portugal, and the Olympic Games in Athens. Two years later, in 2006, he would stand out in the World Cup in Germany. In 2008 he would be a commentator for the Beijing Olympics, and the Eurocup in Austria and Switzerland. For the year 2010 he would be in the World Cup with headquarters in South Africa. And the following year, in 2011, he would stand out in the Gold Cup in the United States, and soon after he would be a commentator for the Copa de América based in Argentina.

Carlos Guerrero lives up to his nickname “El Warrior” by always performing with optimism and giving his best for each project that comes his way. This has led him to become an example for young people in the country, not only those who are dedicated to studying communication, but for all university students in general and those who are beginning to work in the world of work. That’s right, in his own words, in an interview at the end of a meeting with the students of the Faculty of Communication and Marketing, he gave the following advice:  “Achieving what I now have has not been a matter of luck, but of discipline, perseverance and sacrifice .”

As if that were not enough  , Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior”  has served as a columnist who has provided his services to newspapers such as El Universal and AM, however his greatest success has been to serve as a commentator and narrator for soccer matches at the national level that are broadcast by the TV Azteca television station both for our country and for the neighboring United States of America, especially in the program Los Protagonistas where  Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” together with Antonio Rosique , among others, have been fundamental pillars of said program. 

Later Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” became an outstanding member of the team known as “Selección Azteca” , where he performs talentedly together with great communication figures such as Antonio Rosique , Luis García , Jorge Campos and Cristian Martinolli .

After the success of the first season, which earned the acceptance of many viewers, Survivor Mexico returned in 2021 with a new version where, unlike the first season, it would be “famous” who would be participating in this TV Azteca reality show, experiencing lack of food, great tests and above all trying to survive extreme and precarious situations; Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” is the driver of survivor Mexico as of 2021 , thus replacing Arturo Islas Allende who was the driver of the first season. 

The cast of Survivor 2021 was made up of Kristal Silva , Denisha , Cyntia González , Bella de la Vega , Alejandra Toussaint , Brissia , Bárbara Falconi , Tania Niebla , Natalia Alcocer , Adianez Hernández , Aranza Carreiro and Daniela Torres on the women’s side, while the gentlemen were Dennis Arana , Pablo Martí , Gabo Cuevas , Gary Centeno , Daniel Cortés ,Julio Barraza , Eduardo Barquín , Jorge Ortín , Guillermo Dorantes , Sergeant RAP , Paco Pizaña and Carlos ‘Chicken’ Muñoz , while the driver was the famous commentator Carlos Guerrero “El Warrior” . For this program they all traveled to the Dominican Republic, for its crystal clear waters and the vegetation it possesses but above all taking the pertinent sanitary measures since the coronavirus pandemic was still going on at that time.
