Early Life and Education
Brian May was born on July 19, 1947, in Hampton Hill, Middlesex. His Scottish mother married his English Old Man- Harold May, after who he is named- in 1946 and May is the only child of their union.
He attended the local Hanworth Road state primary school and won a scholarship to Hampton Grammar School at the age of 11. It was during this time and at this tender age that he formed his first band named 1984 with Tim Staffell.
May is one of the popular alumni of Imperial College, London, where he studied Mathematics and Physics, bagging a BSc degree with honors. His love for music made him decline an invitation from the popular English Physicist, Sir Benard Lovell to work at the Jodrell Bank Observatory. He chose to remain at the college in order not to be away from the band he was part of at the time- Smile.
In 2007, the musician was awarded a Ph.D. in astrophysics from Imperial College London for a work he started in 1971 and completed in 2007.
Musical Career
After The Smile was dissolved, May teamed up with Musicians, Freddie Mercury and John Deacon to form Queen, a Rock band that eventually gained prominence in England and the world at large in later years.
May helped the band achieve tremendous success both as a vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist. The band charted with their second album, Queen II. The star guitarist wrote many songs for the band including:

During the course of his career, May has worked with seasoned artists like Guns N’ Roses, guitarist Duff McKagan and Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga.
